Liquid Biodiesel Soap/ Hand Cleaner
by: PAul

It is possible to make a liquid soap or hand cleaner but only with potassium hydroxide (KOH) glycerol/glycerine.

1) You need to remove the methanol from the Glycerine. DO this by putting the glycerine on a stove outside in a well ventilated area. Do not let anyone breathe in the fumes. The methanol will start boiling off at about 65 deg C. Once the temperature of the glycerine rises to about 80 deg C you can stop the process.

2) Put 1 litre of glycerol in a pot. Heat it up to 80 deg C.

3) Add 50 g of KOH to 200 ml of water. Dissolve the KOH into the water. Add the mixture to the glycerol.

4) Bring the glycerol to the boil and boil for 20 minutes of so.

5) Allow to cool, add some glass beads or fine sand to the mixture if required. Also add some sort of fragrance to make it smell good.

6) Allow the soap to stand for 3 weeks before use.
