methanol removal from glycerin

hi there i am wondering how much most people out there are able to remove meth from say a hundred litres of glycerin i have been doing this for aboutt six years now and i only seem to get 60 to maybe 70 litres out of 220 litres of waste glycerin if that is all i can get out of it i an thinking just burning the glycerin in a babington burner style furnace rather then going through all the hassle of running the still not to mention the electricicity it consumes thnaks in adwance.

Methanol Recovery from Glycerine
by: Anonymous

I came to the conclusion a few years ago that it wasn't worth the time, effort and electricity that are required to recover the methanol. Obviously if you are a commercial producer then it is important to do methanol recovery. The other issue I had was that the methanol recovered had quite a high water percentage in it which led to all sorts of problems in the next batch.

I now sell the glycerine to a soap manufacturer.
