Simple Recipe for Biodiesel

Read the safety guidelines before making even one drop of biodiesel.

There is a simple recipe for biodiesel from virgin oils, it is :

• 1 liter of vegetable oil
• 220 ml of methanol
• 7 grams of Potassium Hydroxide or 5 grams of Sodium Hydroxide

Dissolve the Potassium Hydroxide or Sodium Hydroxide in the methanol, this makes methoxide

Heat the oil to 55 degrees C

Add the methoxide to the oil while mixing vigorously.

Allow the glycerine to separate from the oil. Remove the glycerine and wash the biodiesel to remove contaminants.

Pretty simple, pretty straightforward. However, remember that the chemicals are poisonous, please follow the safety guidelines.
